Mother's Day

Have you ever gone to post a picture where you look gorgeous then realize your husbands eyes are closed?  Did you post it anyway?

I've decided to do a series on looking good in photos.  Why is this important to me?  Because I'm a girl.  I'm a girl who, before I had children, would never leave the house looking less than presentable.  Now a days, with a baby screaming at me and clawing at my leg while I attempt to put on a bit of mascara, I look less like Drew in 50 First Dates and more like Sandra did in Miss Congeniality (before her makeover).  I did SO well on my diet before my vacation...but returned to late night hot coco and carbs...a lot of carbs.

Let's face it, you can't always look 100% together, but with these photos you can remember the day where you gave yourself permission to take a little bit of time to take care of you.  That's why I put together this year's Mother's Day Mini's.  They're not as cheap as I've done mini sessions for in the past, and I'd like to tell you why.

These sessions are meant to be an experience.  I have a beautiful studio booked for us and I have a professional interior designer (Javeda) doing three custom backdrops.  The sessions are 20 minuets which allows me to give you the best value I can.  Options for personalized styling and make up (by Jessica) at the studio can be added to your session.

I don't want to spoil all the details of the day but I will tell you it will be special.  I will tell you that I had these photos done this last weekend-without loosing the 10lbs.  I am self conscience- I know the power of good angels and good lighting (with a hint of editing).  I am a bit of a bossy photographer, but it's to ensure your photos are going to be print-worthy.  We laugh and play and have a fun time, so the photos are getting your natural beauty, just the best side of it.

Here are some beautiful moms I took pictures of over the weekend.  The light airy component of the images is very flattering for all skin tones and add a certain elegance that makes my heart skip.

It's the start of December and the holidays are in full swing at our house!  Elf on a Shelf has made her first ever appearance and my 6 year old son thinks she's hilarious.  I saw Santa yesterday (yes, Santa) and took some pictures of him with some very special boys and girls.

Speaking of Santa we are writing him a letter tonight.  I thought I would share the template with you!  While we're at it here's another sign to print and hang up so Santa knows just where to go.  If you have any trouble saving the photos please email me at and I'll send you the jpegs.

Enjoy and Happy Christmas!

Ronin's 6th Birthday

My poor husband had to help me pull off yet another party.  I usually do a great job handling everything but this year proved to be a bit of a challenge. Those of you who know me know I get a tiny bit crazy with Ronin's birthday parties!  We are in the middle of renos and considered not having a big party this year...but who was I kidding.

This one was a 'Magic' theme.  The Magic Studio's TD Sparks was excellent entertainment for the kids.  Latte Art Love came and provided all the moms and dads with some much needed caffeine!  She even made special drinks for the kids.  My husband is the first to say I went WAY over the top by hiring a barista but I was able to enjoy the party and have the most wonderful latte's which made it SO worth it! Nomi, the franchise owner of Panago crowfoot, made more than enough pizza for everyone to enjoy, it was a hit as always.  Rita of Cupcake Stories designed and made the two tiered cake as well as the cupcakes which were fabulous.  Sweet Relief made custom sugar cookies for the 6th year in a row!  Another amazing person who hasn't missed a birthday yet is Abeer.  She is so talented, every child was smiling ear to ear with their faces painted (and a few adults too)!  I highly recommend her for henna and face painting and wouldn't have anyone else.  Sky came for the second year in a row and made each of the kids a balloon animal (or two).  Everyone loved them.

My 2018 goal is to purge the house-so Ronin asked for $6 to as a gift idea.  Aunty Jess had to add her creative spin on this by making a money tree--check out the picture!  He also got some new clothes, chalk, legos, starwars battleship, lightsaber and a few other gifts from his generous friends and family!  Not all of Ronin's friends were able to make it this year.  We had it over a long weekend and appreciate everyone who was able to come!  I am so thankful the weather turned out to be great as we're all melting this week!  Thank you to everyone who came and all who helped.  Thank you to everyone who was able to baby hold.  I really sat back and enjoyed the party this year and it was so nice to see so many of our family and friends.  See you at the 7th!!

I met Amy and Devin while photographing their friends wedding last year.  These two are finally tying the knot after a four year engagement!  We chose Fish Creek Park for their pre-wedding session.  We had been looking forward to this for weeks and as I watched my wipers go back and forth on my way to the session I was debating rescheduling.  It was still raining a bit when we parked and we decided to give it a try.  The rain eased up and the clouds over the sunset provided us with the most magnificent light. I clicked with this couple right away and we spent the hour talking and laughing.  We fought off mosquitoes and were fairly wet when it was over, but I would say it was well worth it!  I am so excited to capture the moments of their intimate wedding this September.
